Patients' questions about Vaser liposuction
Am I a suitable candidate for Vaser liposuction?
If you have stubborn areas of excess fat that have not responded to either a healthy diet or regular exercise, you may be a suitable candidate for the surgical procedure. Your remodeling desires will be assessed by Dr. Somma in your initial visit to ensure that your expectations can be met with the surgery.
What is the recovery time?
You are generally able to go home the same day as the surgery. Two to seven days of recovery are then required after Vaser liposuction surgery. This will allow swelling and bruising to subside, as well as promote healing of the small incision holes.
You will need to wear compression garments for five to six weeks after surgery to assist the healing process and skin retraction as well as to reduce swelling.
Is there any scarring after liposculpture?
Because of advanced ultrasound technology, the incisions required for the Vaser liposuction procedure are very small. As with any skin lesion, there will be a slight scar that will likely be almost invisible over time. The small scars, when possible, will be placed strategically below the bikini line or in the belly button to reduce their visibility.
When will I see the results of cosmetic surgery?
The first results are immediately evident; however, they become more noticeable six weeks after the procedure. This will vary from patient to patient depending on how the body responds to the swelling and bruising and the extent of fat that needs to be removed.
What happens if I gain weight after liposuction?
The fat removal and the result obtained are compromised if you gain weight after the procedure. That's why your doctor will recommend a healthy diet and regular exercise after any body reshaping procedure, whether it's Vaser Lipo or traditional liposuction or abdominoplasty.
What are the risks associated with Vaser liposuction?
In general, the risks associated with Vaser liposuction are minimal, especially when compared with more invasive cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures. One reason is that Vaser liposuction is performed under deep sedation, eliminating the need for general anesthesia.
Potential complications in most cosmetic surgery procedures are similar and include infection, allergic reactions, bruising, altered sensitivity of the treated areas, and the need for revisions.
It is important that you are aware of the risks before undergoing any cosmetic or plastic surgery. This will help you decide whether liposuction is an appropriate choice for you.
What is the cost of the liposuction procedure?
The cost of Vaser liposuction surgery depends on several factors including:
- The number of areas to be treated
- The amount of fat to be removed
- The desired results
- The inclusion or non-inclusion of the Brazilian Butt Lift in the complete treatment
